*CANCELLED* Author Visit: Colin Mustful

November 17 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Wabasso Public Library

*EDIT* this program has been cancelled due to short staffing & illness, resulting in the library being closed on November 17, 2023. Our sincerest apologies!
Author and historian Colin Mustful has published four novels related to the complicated and tragic period of Minnesota history that culminated in the mass execution of 38 Dakota men in Mankato in 1862. In his novels, Mustful strives to create compelling stories about the real-life people and events of a tumultuous and forgotten past.
In his newest novel, “Reclaiming Mni Sota,” Mustful creates an alternate history to the U.S.-Dakota War of 1862 by asking the question: “What if the defeated were the victors? What if Minnesota were Mni Sota Makoce, a Native-governed land?”
Stop in on Friday, November 17 at 1:00 PM to listen as Mustful talks about the value of turning history around while explaining how doing so helps readers see the direct connection between the past and the present, along with the importance of diverse narratives. His books will also be available for sale. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend. This event is funded in part or in whole with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
