Meet MN Author Candace Simar

June 12 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Wabasso Public Library

Simar is a Pequot Lakes, Minnesota author with a passion for Scandinavian heritage and has a deep love of history. Candace grew up dreaming how life might have been for her family in the early days of Minnesota settlement. She became concerned when her college-aged children did not know this history, and took her son’s challenge to “write a book.”

Her historical novels include the award-winning “Shelterbelts,” set in Minnesota during the post WWII era, along with the Abercrombie Trail series, which has also garnered awards and is a fictionalized account of the Sioux Uprising of 1862 and its aftermath.

On Wednesday, June 12, Simar will be visiting the Wabasso Public Library at 1:00 PM. She will be discussing her works, career, writing process, and highlighting her latest historical novel, “Sister Lumberjack,” which is a story set in and around the logging camps of Northern Minnesota.

This program is free and open to the public, and is made possible through funds provided by the the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
